Templates & presets
Templates are ready-made starting points for a new banner library design — a full theme, category set, and screen flow you can load in one click and then customize in Banner Studio.
Using a template
Click Templates in the Studio toolbar to open the picker, then choose one and it loads straight into the canvas, replacing the current draft. From there you can rename elements, restyle, or add screens exactly as if you'd built it from scratch.
Note: Loading a template overwrites your current unsaved draft. Save or publish anything you want to keep first.
Built-in templates
Template | Screens | Best for |
|---|---|---|
Default | Bar + preferences modal | The recommended starting point for most sites — Accept all / Reject all / Customize on a bottom bar. |
Slim Bar | Single compact bar | Minimal footprint: text, Reject, Accept all, and a "Cookie settings" link, all in one row. |
Classic 2-Tier | Bar + preferences modal | A traditional layout with per-category toggles (Preferences, Statistics, Marketing) in the modal. |
3-Tier Progressive | Bar → options popup → detailed preferences modal | Progressive disclosure — quick accept/reject up front, a "Detailed settings" screen for visitors who want it. |
GDPR Opt-In | Bar + preferences modal | EU-posture: every non-essential category defaults off until the visitor explicitly opts in. |
CCPA Do Not Sell | Single modal | A standalone "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" toggle + confirm, for US/California opt-out flows. |
Each template ships with its own accent color and corner radius so it doesn't look like a generic default — expect to still apply your brand via theming & appearance.
Standard categories
Most templates use the three standard categories: Preferences, Statistics, and Marketing (Necessary/essential cookies are implicit and always on — they're not a toggle). The GDPR and CCPA templates instead define custom categories with their own default state (e.g. default: false for GDPR opt-in) and a mapsTo mapping back to a standard category for reporting.
Custom categories
Beyond the three standard ones, you can define your own categories from the Settings drawer's Categories tab in Banner Studio — set an ID, label, description, and default state, and optionally map it to a standard category. This is how the built-in GDPR and CCPA templates express their non-standard toggles, and you can do the same for things like "Functional" or region-specific labels.
Choosing a template for your compliance posture
Serving EU visitors under GDPR → start from GDPR Opt-In (opt-in by default) or add a geo rule in Settings → Targeting so EU traffic gets opt-in while other regions get a lighter default.
Serving California/US visitors under CCPA → start from CCPA Do Not Sell, or add it as an additional screen in a broader flow.
Everyone else, or a first banner → Default or Classic 2-Tier.
